20 Simple Adventures You Can Enjoy Anytime

By April 25, 2017 Adventures, General, Home, Travel

What is adventure? It not only means very unusual experience or excitement but also means taking a chance of something. So if you thought you can have an adventure only when you have plenty of time for vacation or on a weekend hanging out in the mountains, then you are missing a lot of fun.

Taking chances and doing something you have never done before or feel that you could never do is an awesome adventure. These are little things that make you feel alive and freshen you up after the busy routine.

A while back, I was bored of everyday routine work; Honestly, I didn’t have much spare time for myself even on weekends. I had to wait for certain holidays or once/twice a year vacations for some adventures. So I thought of creating a journal and writing up things I would enjoy doing in life.

Writing up these things pushed me a little more and I started doing those projects after work and enjoyed a lot. Below are some things I wrote in my journal. Maybe you would like to try a few if not all.

  1. Learn to be a better Photographer.
  2. Cook and eat a new recipe from a different culture once every other week
  3. Learn a language you’ve never heard of before.
  4. Adopt a pet- a dog, cat or even a small bird.
  5. Change your look-hairstyle- hair color, your dressing style.
  6. Plant some tomatoes veggies and herbs in your garden. Take care of them and watch them grow.
  7. Learn your family tree and put it together in a creative way.
  8. Plan to meet someone you haven’t met in a long time.
  9. Learn to play a game you love but are not good at-chess, mahjong etc.
  10. Take a walk in the rain.
  11. Learn to paint landscapes or anything you like.
  12. Find things you haven’t used in a while and sell them on eBay or craigslist. Start from the lowest price and see how much it sells for.
  13. Keep your internet off for a few days and see what difference it makes to your life. Note down all the different things you did in your journal.
  14. Eat something you never liked and thought it was nasty.
  15. Make up a song and sing in front of your friends.
  16. Write a biography. Everything you remember from your childhood.
  17. Go camping in your backyard.
  18. Ride a bike everywhere you go for a day or two.
  19. Plan a surprise birthday party for someone you love in a unique way.
  20. Spend time with an elder person and listen to their life stories -put a smile on their face.

Have you ever thought of doing any similar adventures? Please share.

Natural Remedies for Weight loss that Work

By April 24, 2017 Food, General, Health & Beauty, Home

Over weight problem? Trying to lose weight but nothing works or you can’t stay on track for long?

Below are some natural remedies that will help you in losing weight. The good thing is that you won’t have to starve yourself. The secret is to watch your diet even after you’ve lost weight.

What we usually do is get over excited after losing some weight and stop worrying about what we’re consuming again.

I’ve seen people especially women starving themselves when they start dieting. That is not the right way and that’s the reason you can’t stick to the diet for long. You have to eat to lose weight but only the right things.

Before you start any diet take a few days to answer these questions:

  1. Why are you overweight?
  2. What foods make you gain weight-carbs or proteins?
  3. Do you eat healthy and natural foods?
  4. What are the things you eat that you know you should avoid?
  5. Can you avoid or limit the unhealthy foods you consume if you go on a diet?
  6. Do you move a lot or exercise?

It’s important to know answers to the above questions if you want to get some results.

Now let’s look at some of the remedies that I or some of my family members have t

  • You’ve probably heard this lot to drink lemon water in the morning, it actually works. Add 2 tablespoon lemon and 1 teaspoon honey in an 8 oz glass of warm water and drink before breakfast.
  • Eat ½ teaspoon cumin powder mixed with ½ cup plain Yogurt empty stomach. A study showed this is a very effective way to lose weight.
  • Green tea is one of the best metabolism boosters. Drink 2-3 cups a day.
  • Crush a clove of garlic and mix with 1 tsp honey. Eat this mixture a few times in a week.
  • If carbs make you fat. Avoid bakery products, sugar and flour. Eat more vegetables, fish and meat.
  • Avoid soda as much as possible.
  • Also it’s better to avoid fried food as much as possible.
  • If proteins are your problem, eat less meat and protein products and try more vegetables, fruits and wholegrain breads etc.
  • Walk at least 5 minutes more than you usually do, then slowly increase the time.
  • Cinnamon tea helps you lower blood sugar. Eat it anyway you like, sprinkle on cereal, coffee or any meals.
  • Eat vegetables/fruits as healthy snacks, lunch or dinner

If you follow the above remedies regularly you’ll see a difference within a few days. Remember not all diets work for everyone. Most important is to know what will work best for you.

Personally, I believe if you really want good results, don’t force yourself, start small. If you can’t avoid most of the food then start consuming less of it. Once you start seeing results you’d be more encouraged and maybe then you can avoid it and eat healthier.

Please let me know in the comments below if you tried any of these remedies and they worked for you or not. Also I’d like to hear if you have any more remedies or suggestions that we can add here.

Affordable Vacation Spots

By April 19, 2017 Adventures, General, Home, Travel

It’s spring time. Sometimes I wonder how life slowly changes but we hardly realize the change, after a while we look back and see how everything is different.

Just a few weeks ago the trees had no leaves and you could even see through the tree tops but now I looked out the window and saw the trees full of green leaves.

It’s the best time of the year. Everything feels new, birds coming back home, flowers blossoming, and the warm weather make you feel refreshed.

With the weather so good everyone wants to go out and have fun in the sun.  You feel more alive with the warmer weather because you see a lot people doing different activities around you, unlike winter when everyone prefers to stay inside and be warm.

Now that winter is over, most of us are planning the summer vacations, visits to beach, another state or country. Summer is all about fun.

There are so many places in the world to see and explore so it gets confusing to choose the perfect place. Below I found some amazing places you can visit this year that are affordable yet adventurous for the whole family.

The Minneapolis in Minnesota

Minneapolis is popular for an attractive and fun getaway with its magnificent lakes and glistening skyscrapers. The “City of Lakes” has enjoyment spots for everyone. Art lovers have plenty to see at Walker Art Center, Frederick Weisman Art Museum and Minneapolis Art Institute.  You’ll find more than 30 theaters in Minneapolis; The Mall of America offers shopping dining and entertainment for the whole family.  Science Museum of Minnesota and Underwater Adventures Aquarium are awesome places for the kids to have fun.  This is just a small description of the whole fun. Plan the trip today and check it out yourself.

Salt Lake City- Utah

Utah City is family friendly and peaceful place.  It has many attractions for tourists such as Olympic Park, Natural History Museum of Utah and the Hogle Zoo.

Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park is an affordable getaway for natural attraction lovers and visitors of all ages. It features miles of hiking and skiing paths, hot springs and lush forests, dramatic canyons and rivers. You’ll also find hundreds of animal species there including wolves, antelopes and bears.

Yosemite National Park

California’s Yosemite National Park features towering waterfalls, unique rock formations and its giant, ancient sequoia trees. In Yosemite Village you’ll find Museum, lodging, restaurants and shops.  Guided tours and climbing lessons are available from local adventure outfitters for people who have no experience of hiking. Keep in mind like most American tourist destinations you’ll see lots of crowds.

Savannah, Georgia

Savannah is another affordable place you can visit with family. It is well known for its horse drawn carriages, Forsyth Park that is shaded by oak trees, picturesque architecture and food festivals. It’s amazing to wander off and experience the history and beauty of this coastal city.

I know there are so many other great places for adventure lovers, but if you consider these while searching for your next trip, I’m sure you’ll save some money and enjoy the awesome places at the same time.

Early Morning Adventures

By April 17, 2017 Adventures, General, Home

Only the early risers would know how it feels to wake up early morning and enjoy the smell of fresh morning air that disappears by noon. The beauty of sunrise is mesmerizing but a lot of people miss it.

As far as I can remember, I had never seen sunrise or dawn when I was little until after age 16, when we had to get up early for traveling. I met dawn for the first time in life.

I still remember the feeling I had that morning. It was an amazing and somewhat different experience.

“The silence in the morning holds lots of expectations and is more hopeful than the silence at night.” – Victoria Durnak

As years passed by I discovered taking a walk early morning is the best way to start an adventurous day and spend time with myself or a friend. The quiet streets and low lights have a charm of their own that can’t be explained in words.

“Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” –Benjamin Franklin

There is something in that time of the day that makes you feel refreshed and energized that’s why early risers have a more successful life than most.

Easier said than done, I know it’s not that simple waking up early and then going out for a walk, but once you are able to make the big effort of getting out of bed you’ll know what I mean by early morning adventures.  Trust me, the beauty of the morning will grab your attention in no time and you’ll forget about your bed and sleep for a while.

To keep your habit of getting up early everyday make slow changes of 15 to 20 minutes  until you get used to it and get up on your own automatically.
